Alien is the story of reflection – the attempt to duplicate in essence but not in every aspect of physical reality. The reflection of Human and Alien, Human and Machine. To look at something and really see our reflection within it. Starting with the eye, I began to think about the entire body as a spaceship into the world around us and the Spaceship Nostromo as a reflection of the body. A set of bones, flesh, muscle, blood all flowing through each other. Appearing on the surface and the disappearing into itself, offering us a gentle reminder of what lies below. Complexly organic, a symbol of perfection. This is what the Nostromo is – a reflection of our perfection.
